The type of leash and collar that you need depend on your budget and lifestyle. For most people, a regular nylon collar and leash is more affordable and will do fine. If you do quite a bit of walking in the evening, consider purchasing a leash and collar that is reflective. For the active dog walker or those of you who want to bike with your dog, consider a retractable leash for flexibility. Some canines are better suited to harnesses.
Dogs that have easily collapsible tracheas like Pugs and Boston Terriers are better suited to harnesses. A leather collar and leash tends to be more durable as well as expensive. If you want something that will last and don't plan on any muddy outings, leather may be an option for you.

There are multiple meanings to the term "training." It's important to understand that when deciding what you need to do with your dog. Here I offer my distinctions:
First, there is "behavior training." This is the kind of training in which a dog is taught to be a "good citizen." Typically this includes housetraining, good behavior around other people and dogs, reasonable leash manners and other small things that make a dog a much more pleasant companion. A well behaved dog attracts no special notice from the public (aside from amazing some with their good manners).

Whether dogs in fact prefer wooden dog houses or a different material is unclear, however the most universal dog house
is built of wood, the same as our houses! Most little dogs live inside so a little dog house is not usually an issue.

Medium sized and large dogs usually live outside in their own wooden dog houses. Finding a large dog house or an extra large dog house is what most people have troubles with. You can find plans on the internet for wooden dog houses, as-well-as free plans for wooden dog houses.

Researchers feel that the average dog has a human language range of 100 words or less. Words used repeatedly for commands are those learned the fastest - such as no, sit, etc. It is believed that the dogs alert on the very first sounds of each human word they know, and pay more attention thereafter to the inflection and/or tone used.
To a dog that has about the average knowledge of the human language, a general (English) conversation overheard by them of someone on the phone would sound like (capitalized words are the recognized words): "hi hon... yes, please STOP at the store on the way home for me and get bread... NO, your mother did not call today... never mind, just COME on home and i'll get bread later..." Your dog heard STOP --- NO --- COME.
