There used to be a line separating humans from their pets, however, now the line is getting thinner and more indiscernible than ever. Over millions of years, wild animals domesticated and tamed by humans have gone through changes in every generation; the "norm" has been more human-like than what anyone could have imagined. Today, pet animals are enjoying luxurious and deftly designed pet fashion apparel. One can imagine a dog ancestor exclaiming "Well in my days" once it sees what pet pooches are sporting these days.

Pet fashion is influenced by a number of things. In truth, some pet apparel serves an important purpose such as protecting your pets from extreme heat or harmful ultra-violet rays. Dressing pets up in coats, sweaters and PJs has been a practice to keep pets warm during freezing or windy months. Proving that fashion and function can work together. However, sporting UV protected sunglasses to prevent dry eyes and poor eyesight, is more geared towards style then actual safety. After all, no dog ever asked their owner for a pair of shades because the sun was to bright.

The Internet is laden with pet fashion stores and if you visit many of these excellent websites, you can view a catalogue of the newest and most sought after pet accessories that are taking the pet fashion world by storm. This year's pet Fashion show in New York has already reportedly doubled the participants for their pooch fashion week. Many of these participants are well known fashion designers looking to get their hands on the cash that this million-dollar industry will provide.

Whether or not there is a need for the pet fashion industry to grow has brought on a feverish debate. Some argue that dogs and cats are just animals and need to be treated as such, but others argue that their pet is like a child and needs more warmth and attention then some mangy mutt. Regardless of who wins this debate, one thing is certain, more and more celebrities are purchasing designer clothing, carriers and jewelry for their pets. And with the paparazzi photos of these stars being pasted over countless magazine covers, there is no doubt that the general public will follow suit.

Just like human fashion, pet fashion has its trends and styles. Browsing through the net, most pet fashion sites have pegged visors, doggie caps and sunglasses as summer accessories that can liven up your pets pet apparel. They have coats, jackets and hats for the winter months as well. The prices for these outlandish gifts range from a few dollars to more than a few hundred dollars. As with most industries, manufacturers and rich pet owners set the trend for these latest fashion must haves.

Pet owners believe in pet fashion at different levels. Some spend enough dollars on pet fashion to make Hollywood celebrities blush. Then there are discerning pet owners who have tend to go through pet fashion phases, choosing pieces that can be mixed and matched or classic styles that recur and never go out of date. Pet fashion can be likened to the phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholders" the need and the procurement for pet fashion being a case-to-case basis.

No matter which category you fall into, you can be assured that this industry will be here for years to come. Pet fashion is an evolutionary cycle and we are just taking our first major step into the spotlight. Don't be surprised to see dogs and cats dressed to the nines in the years to come. Dapper pet fashion will soon become a common site, especially in big cities and affluent areas. So grab your dog some hip clothing and hang on for the ride.

Nowadays people are dressing their dog for some reasons:

• Some people think of their dogs as their children and choose to project the image of a child onto their dog by dressing them in cute dog clothes.

• Some people dress their pets as a sign of affection and feel that it strengthens their bond with their dog.

• Some people believe the clothes look cute on the dog and believe the dog enjoys wearing clothes. They believe it keeps their dog happy.

• Some people have the money to dress up their dog, projecting an image of sophistication.

• Some consider their dog as an accessory and dress the dog to compliment their outfit.

• For status reasons- some people believe dog-designer clothes impresses others.

• Some people dress their dog because they think it is cute, funny and entertaining.

When purchasing dog clothes, safety and comfort are the most important things to consider. Make sure that the coat fits properly, snug enough so a foot or mouth won't get caught where it doesn't belong, and loose enough so it isn't constricting. Also consider how easy or difficult the item is to put on and take off. If your dog is caught or injured, be sure the coat can be removed quickly.

Caution is also advised when leaving your dog unattended with clothes on. If your dog is bored or doesn't like the clothing, chewing and destruction may be the result.

What should I consider when buying dog clothes?

The two most important things to consider when buying dog clothes are comfort and safety. Clothing should not restrict the movement of your dog in any way, it should not be too tight nor should it be so loose it is liable to snag on something.

Clothing that helps you, and others to see your dog better in the dark is also something you should consider. A dog coat with a reflective strip, or even a pink hoodie will help you to see your pet in the dark.

Dog clothes, including dog coats, and hoodies for dogs are available at Petz Boutique. http://www.trosworld.com/petzboutique/
